Karen Overington
Broker Associate/REALTOR
A Colorado native and living in Durango before she turned six, Karen embodies the term “local.” Having attended Durango primary, middle and high schools, along with Fort Lewis College, Karen left in 1987 and was gone just long enough to know that Durango was home - and, the place she wanted to raise her own family. “This area is of great importance to me, historically and also looking toward the future,” she says. “I want the same environment, community and sense of belonging that I had as a young person to be shared by my children.”
Karen knows Durango well. From a personal perspective, she provides insight into schools and shopping, summer and winter recreations, arts and cultural activities, churches and community organizations. She has been active with Music in the Mountains (our three week summer classical music festival) and has sat on the board of directors of the Women’s Resource Center. “My children have been active in local sports (DYSA competitive soccer and basketball) and the arts (Durango Children’s Chorale) and I provide important information and contacts for those moving with families.”
Real Estate has been Karen’s profession for 14 years. She is a consistent top-producing agent locally and a national award winning agent for the past 7 years. Karen knows that market knowledge is key to providing a better level of service in real estate. She offers a combination of experience, a commitment to continuing education, constant monitoring of activity/trends and close attention to government and other factors that affect the real estate market.

“I love to assist buyers and sellers. That is the primary reason I left the broker/manager role and returned to sales. Assisting a neighbor, friend or family member of a referring past-client or business community acquaintance in a successful real estate transaction is what it’s all about. “The referrals that come from advocates will convert a real estate sales business to a real estate service business. That is better for everyone.”
