February 1 – March 31: Cascade Winter Train. The train heads north to Cascade Canyon. Dress for snow to walk along the river while the train turns around. Information: www.durangotrain.com or 888-872-4607.   

 

February 2: Bela Fleck: The Africa Project. Explorations of the banjo. Held at the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College. 7 – 9:30 p.m. Information: 247-7657.

 

February 4: April Verch. A dynamic Canadian fiddle player. Held at the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College. 7 – 9:30 p.m. Information: 247-7657.

 

February 5 – 7: SheRide Snowboard Camp. Three days of riding, learning and laughing. All women coaches teaching women riders. All levels welcome. Held at DMR.  Information: www.sheride.com.

 

February 10: Eric Bibb. A familiar voice in the US acoustic folk-blues scene. Held at the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College. 7 – 9:30 p.m. Information: 247-7657.

 

February 13: Snowscape Winter Carnival. Many events including a parade of lights, fireworks, snowball fights and a ceremonial bonfire. Held in Silverton. 9 a.m. – 10 p.m.

 

February 13: Rave On! The Buddy Holly Story. Billy McGuigan portrays Holly in this electrifying show. Held at the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College. 7 – 9:30 p.m. Information: 247-7657.

 

February 17: Town & Gown. The Durango Choral Society joins the Fort Lewis College Choirs for this fun annual event. Held at the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College. 7 – 9:30 p.m. Information: 247-7657.

 

February 21 & March 21: College Day at Durango Mountain Resort. $29 lift ticket with a valid college ID.

 

February 26 – 28: Gardenswartz Extravaganza Sale. Held at the La Plata County Fairgrounds. 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Information: 259-6696.

 

February 26: Chocolate Fantasia. All of the chocolate your heart desires. Held at Fort Lewis College in the Student Union Ballroom. 5:30 – 8 p.m Information: www.fortlewis.edu.

 

February 27: Kelley Hunt. A blues based-based artist with both tradition and true originality. Held at the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College. 5:30 – 7 p.m. Information: 247-7657.

 

March 3 – 7: 5th Annual Durango Independent Film Festival. Each year, southwest Colorado's premier showcase for independent film, grows into a deeper, richer, experience. Information: www.durangofilm.org.

 

March 7: Local’s Appreciation Day at Durango Mountain Resort. benefiting La Plata Search & Rescue. $39 lift ticket with a coupon from The Durango Telegraph or Buzztown.com.

 

March 14: Richie Havens. best known for his intense rhythmic guitar style and his opening performance at Woodstock. Held at the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College. 7 – 9:30 p.m. Information: 247-7657.

 

March 18: Furniture As Art Auction. One of Durango’s most fun and creative arts & entertainment events. Support our local artists and KDUR.  5:30 – 9:30 p.m. Information: www.kdur.org.

 

March 20: Durango Life Foundation Fundraiser. Held at the La Plata County Fairgrounds. All day event. Information: 833-2348.

 

March 20: Durango Bach Festival. The Durango Women’s Choir will perform for the second year at the Durango Bach Festival. Held at St. Mark’s Church. 2 – 10 p.m.

 

March 25: Soup For The Soul. Area restaurants offer soup, appetizers, dessert, beer & wine. Proceeds go to Hospice of Mercy. Held at the La Plata County Fairgrounds. 6 – 8:30 p.m. Information: 903-8493.

 

March 25: Infamous Stringdusters, with special guest, Lonesome Stew. A broad melting pot of American music. Held at the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College. 7:30 – 10 p.m. Information: 247-7657.

 

March 26: Vienna Boys Choir. One of the oldest boys’ choirs existing in the world. Held at the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College. 7:30 – 9:30 p.m. Information: 247-7657.

 

March 27 – 28: Harley Davidson Parts Expo. Held at the La Plata County Fairgrounds. 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Information: 259-0778.
